SUMMARY
-Before you hit the “Delete forever” button, think of all the followers you have. You could let them all know that you got a new user id, but why bother and go through all that extra work when you can have all your tweets carefully deleted for you.
-Today there are special apps and websites that can solve any (or almost any) of your problems. Apps that delete tweets are among them.
-Once you open http://delete.twitlan.com/, it’ll ask you if you’re ready to authorize it to use your account. Once you agree to it, you’ll see all of your tweets. Below all your tweets, there’ll be the Delete the Tweets Permanently button. Don’t panic if the green progress bar is only 20% full after 2 hours. You could even leave it overnight.
-Run the website https://www.gocardigan.com and authorize the app to get connected to your Twitter. Once that happens, it’ll start retrieving your tweets. An interesting feature of Cardigan is that you can filter your tweets by keyword and only delete the ones containing the word “dog”, for example.
-https://www.tweeteraser.com/ doesn’t start removing all your tweets right away, but carefully organizes them in a table and lets you choose which of them you want to delete. You still have the option to delete them all though, no worries.
-You open http://www.tweetdelete.net, agree to its terms and conditions, “Sign in with Twitter,” and “Authorize app” to do its thing. The one difference here is that you can choose a time span to automatically delete your tweets that were published from one week to a year ago.
-Engage in conversations using the “@” command. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice or feedback. Share useful links and things that might be interesting to others.
-If someone reaches out to you using the “@” or direct messages you, always respond to them. You can use the search tool and type in “to:(your twitter name)” to see who’s talking about you.
-Post regularly to let people know you’re there, but avoid spamming. And don’t turn Twitter into your minute-by-minute diary.
